The real decision: is the Ultimate worth 20 dollars more?
- Both editions give you the same base game, the same Vintage Vice City Pack and the same month of GTA+. You do not lose content by choosing Standard.
- The Ultimate Edition Upgrade is sold separately for 20 dollars, which means you can start with Standard and upgrade later.
- 20 dollars is roughly a quarter of the base price. If you are going to play for dozens of hours, it is small; if you only want the story, Standard is enough.
- Rockstar has not announced a Collector Edition for GTA 6.

How much do the GTA 6 editions cost?
Standard Edition is US$79.99 and Ultimate Edition is US$99.99 on the official US stores (checked 5 November 2026). Regional store pricing in euros or pounds may vary with local taxes.
Is the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition worth it?
Both editions include the same full base game, the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+. The Ultimate upgrade is sold separately for US$20, so you can safely buy Standard first and upgrade later if you want the extra content.
Can I upgrade from Standard to Ultimate Edition later?
Yes. Rockstar has confirmed that the Ultimate Edition Upgrade is sold separately for US$20. You can start with the Standard Edition and upgrade later.
What is a code-in-box edition? Does it have a disc?
Retailers will stock physical code-in-box copies starting 12 November 2026. The box contains a digital download voucher code to redeem on your console store — there is no physical disc. You redeem the code and download the game file (up to 212 GB).
When does GTA 6 pre-load begin for each edition?
Digital pre-load opens on 10 November 2026 for both Standard and Ultimate: PlayStation 5 at local midnight, and Xbox Series X|S at 00:00 GMT worldwide (9 Nov 16:00 PT / 19:00 ET). Pre-load allows you to download up to 212 GB ahead of time, but does not allow early play.
Can I refund my pre-order once pre-load starts?
Refund policies depend strictly on your platform holder. On many stores your refund right can end once the download starts on your console. Check your store's policy (PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store) before pre-load begins on 10 November 2026.
When is the GTA 6 release date?
19 November 2026 at local midnight on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A PC release date has not been announced.
Is there a GTA 6 Collector Edition?
Rockstar has not announced a Collector Edition or physical statue edition for GTA 6.
